DUCKLING 1

  • Make a supervised safe entry with adult support if required
  • Float on back with adult support behind the head without flotation equipment
  • Blow bubbles at the water surface
  • Wet the head without submersion
  • Kick 5 metres on back with adult support
  • Travel without support for 2 metres to a floating object
  • Enter the pool, rotate and return to the side with adult support
  • Exit the water safely with minimal adult support


 

DUCKLING 2

  • Make a sitting entry with adult support if required
  • Rotate 180 degrees either using a log roll or an upright position, using floatation equipment and without adult support
  • Submerge the face with confidence under adult supervision
  • Blow an object for a distance of 2 metres
  • Travel 3 metres using arms and legs without adult support
  • Move 5 metres along rail or wall without adult support
  • Enter the pool, rotate and return to the side with minimal support
  • Exit the water safely with minimal adult support


 DUCKLING 3

  • Make a supervised jump to an adult with or without support
  • Float on the front or back without adult support
  • Push off from the front or back in a streamlined position shape from a supporting adult
  • Blow bubbles with the mouth and nose underwater
  • Travel 5 metres on the front to the side of the pool without adult support
  • Kick 5 metres on the front holding a float
  • Enter the pool, rotate and return to the side without adult support
  • Climb out of the water with adult support if needed


DUCKLING 4

  • Jump into the water unaided, but supervised
  • Perform a mushroom or star float
  • Rotate 360 degrees either using a log roll or an upright position
  • Push and glide achieving a streamlined position on the front or back
  • Submerge completely (only if the child is happy to do so)
  • Travel 10 metres on the front or back, without adult support
  • Jump into the water, turn around and swim back to the point of entry and hold onto the side
  • Climb out of the water with adult support if required

  WATER CONFIDENCE

  • Enter the water safely
  • Blow bubbles, faces in water, bob up and down in water
  • Travel forwards for 5 metres (aids or equipment may be used)
  • Travel backwards for 5 metres (aids or equipment may be used)
  • Floatation on front and back and regain upright position (with support)
  • Push and glide from wall (aids or equipment may be used)
  • Jump into the water (assisted if required)
  • Exit the water safely

  BEGINNER 1

  • Enter the water safely using a swivel turn
  • Floatation - Star float on back regaining feet from floating position (no support)
  • Floatation – Star float on front regaining feet from floating position (no support)
  • Push and glide from wall on front (no support)
  • Push and glide from wall on back (no support)
  • Travel on front for 5 metres (aids or equipment may be used)
  • Travel on back for 5 metres (aids or equipment may be used)
  • Jump into the water


BEGINNER 2

  • Floatation – Star float on back and front, tuck float & log roll
  • Push, glide and kick from wall for 5 metres (streamlined position arms extended above head)
  • Push, glide and kick from wall for 5 metres (streamlined position arms by side)
  • Kick 5 metres Frontcrawl using 1 float
  • Kick 5 metres Backstroke using 1 float
  • Kick 5 metres Breaststroke using 1 float
  • Swim 5 metres Frontcrawl using circular arm action
  • Perfrom 3 different jumps into the water

  IMPROVER 1 

  • Kick 8 metres Frontcrawl showing effective leg action (arms above head)
  • Kick 8 metres Backstroke showing effective leg action (arms above head) 
  • Kick 6 metres Breaststroke on back (arms by side)
  • Kick 6 metres Butterfly on front and back showing effective leg action (arms by side)
  • Swim 8 metres Frontcrawl showing good arm recovery
  • Swim 8 metres Backstroke showing circular arm action
  • Perform sculling on back sculling head first 
  • Submersion – Fully submerge to pick up an object


IMPROVER 2 

  • Treading water (30 seconds)
  • Perform a forward somersault in the water
  • Perform a handstand in the water
  • Swim 8 metres Frontcrawl showing side breathing
  • Swim 8 metres Backstroke showing correct hand entry
  • Swim 6 metres Breaststroke showing effective leg action
  • Swim 6 metres Butterfly showing effective dolphin action
  • Perform sculling on back feet first


  ADVANCED 1 

  • Sink, push off wall into glide, kick and perform Frontcrawl
  • Sink, push off wall into glide, kick and perform Backstroke
  • Swim 10 metres Frontcrawl showing bilateral breathing
  • Swim 10 metres Backstroke showing continuous arm/leg action
  • Swim 8 metres Breaststroke showing effective Pull Breath Kick Glide action
  • Swim 8 metres Butterfly showing rhythmical breathing
  • Perform a seated dive
  • Exit water without using step

ADVANCED 2 

  • Kick 16 metres Frontcrawl showing efficient technique
  • Kick 16 metres Backstroke showing efficient technique
  • Kick 16 metres Breaststroke showing efficient technique
  • Kick 16 metres Butterfly showing efficient technique
  • Perform a somersault from wall followed by push glide phase
  • Perform an efficient Frontcrawl turn and breakout into stroke
  • Perform an efficient Backstroke turn and breakout into stroke
  • Perform an efficient Breaststroke turn and breakout into stroke
  • Perform an efficient Butterfly turn and breakout into stroke
